3 Tips to Get Back on Track after Vacation

3 Tips to Get Back on Track after Vacation www.herviewfromhome.com

Summer is a common time for vacations and special activities. It’s also a common time for people to be eating healthy but going on vacation can throw you off.  I just recently returned from my latest vacation to South Dakota to spend time with my siblings. It is always fun to get away, but if you are trying to follow any type of diet or healthy eating, a vacay can derail you if you don’t take precautions to get back at it as soon as you get back!

Here’s a list of 3 things I make sure to do as soon as I get back to avoid turning my vacation habits into everyday habits! These are common things – but so common, they are easy to over look and not do!

Drink lots of water!
One thing I definitely lack while I’m on vacation is water. I usually allow myself to drink other beverages while I am gone but that means as soon as I get back it’s time to get back to 1/2 your body weight in ounces!

Eat a healthy meal as soon as you get back
If your vacation ends on a Saturday, its really easy to throw in the towel until Monday. Because Monday is the perfect day to start over right? Wrong! I make sure to always eat a healthy meal as soon as I get back. Your meal should be full of veggies and lean protein. Those things we often lack while vacationing. If you start right away, it makes you feel better about yourself and makes the process of getting on track much easier. My go to meal is a chicken stirfry, its quick and easy!

Make a plan to exercise shortly after you are back!
The same goes with exercise as it does eating.  If you don’t plan for it right away, it’s easy to put off until Monday. If you just got back from traveling most likely you have spent the majority of the day sitting in a plane or a car. When you get home, go for a walk to get your body moving and plan out your workouts for the following week.
