With such warm weather throughout most of the state, it’s hard to believe that fall is almost over and winter will soon be upon us. My husband and I took a trip out to Illinois for his work this past weekend and we found that the further east we went, the more leaves were on the trees. In fact, we found a park in Illinois that still had flowers blooming! It was fun to get to enjoy the fall colors all over again.
I have a reputation for taking lots of pictures of leaves. LOTS. But I can’t help it. Their texture and pattern is fascinating to me. And when leaves are a pretty color, well… I’m going to be taking pictures.
I was very excited to find a holly bush in the park as well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one planted in a park, but it was beautiful! I know that Christmas is still a ways off, but just seeing a holly bush makes me excited for the holidays.
We had a very long drive and got home just in time for Sam to go to photography class and me to go to worship practice, but we were able to see a gorgeous Nebraska sunset that evening. The Lord gives us such beauty to enjoy here on earth. That is certainly one thing I am thankful for.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, everyone! (First published 11/21/2012)
