As the summer weather starts getting hotter and hotter (and HOTTER!), I find myself wishing that I was back in Alaska. It was almost a year ago that I went on an Alaskan cruise with my family (you can read more about that here and here).
We travelled with a group from Insight For Living, the ministry of Chuck Swindoll. The messages that he shared with us during the trip were really wonderful. He focused on children and parenting quite a bit – it wasn’t so applicable then, but we are definitely appreciating what he said now!
One of the things I took away from Chuck’s messages on parenting is that each child is uniquely gifted. Every single child has unique talents that can be used for God’s purposes. Our job as parents is to draw out and cultivate those good traits in our children while counteracting their bad tendencies.
As we begin our journey in parenting, our prayer is that we can train up Isaiah in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
