Having a “World” of Fun at the Movies!

Movies! I love Movies. Let’s go.

My family wanted to try out the World Theatre in Kearney that has recently been re-opened. OK – the movie is not a new release, but it is on a big screen. I decided to go ahead and give it a try.

The Theatre has a new-old fashioned look. You notice right away when you step up to the outside window to purchase your ticket, instead of going inside. It’s kinda fun. (The theatre does accommodate the 21st century. You can purchase your ticket online, if you want.) For only $5.00, you can get into a big screen movie.

I must say, it was nice to stand in a ticket only line again. I’m old fashioned enough to remember when there was a ticket line and a popcorn line. I like having them both at the World.

And let’s talk popcorn!! The popcorn was fantastic. I think it is the best in town, and believe me, I eat a lot of popcorn. If nothing else, the price is right. You can get a huge bucket of popcorn for only $2.00, and that includes the butter. I always have
to have butter. The soda is reasonable, too. Only $2.00 for a large. And they have Root Beer. It just puts you in a great mood.

For those of you who have been going to the World for a few years, you will be glad to hear that your feet no longer stick to the floor, and the bathrooms are beautiful.  Yes, I said bathrooms – -the movie I was able to see had a pretty long line for the
women, so my wonderful escort watched the door of the men’s while I checked it out. Don’t point your finger! A girl has to do what a girl has to do.

Now let’s talk about the theatre itself. First, there is leg room. Someone can walk past you while you are in your seat and not even touch your legs!! Can you believe that! What fantastic seats. They rock! No, I mean they really do rock back and forth –and the backs are tall enough for you to lean back with the headrest.

That’s just what you will be doing. Leaning back and watching the curtain open to a wonderful movie on the big screen.
