During our initial transition from conventional body care products to chemical free versions I fell in love with a safe (three easy to pronounce ingredients!), but pricey facial moisturizer. Paying over $20 for a tiny jar was a bit much for my frugal sensibilities, so I set out to make my own version. This recipe works out to be 1/4 or less than the cost per ounce of buying from the original retailer!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/4 cup raw, organic shea butter – a “superfood” for your skin that heals, protects, and has anti-inflammatory properties
2 tsp Vitamin E oil – a powerful antioxidant that protects skin
1 TBS Organic Rosehip Seed Oil – works to prevent wrinkles, even skin tone, and combat sun damage
That’s it!
First, whip the shea butter in a stand mixer or using a hand mixer until it is nice and fluffy.
Then, add in the oils and continue to whip the mixture until well combined. Since all natural ingredients may vary slightly in texture, you may need to add just a few more drops of oil or whip the mixture for a few extra minutes to achieve your desired consistency.
Finally, transfer your face cream to a clean container with a tight fitting lid. Store the cream in a cool, dry place.
