LOVE the message. HATE the image. I would guess that 98.9% of us don’t have a chance in h-e-double hockey sticks of looking like this ever. These “inspirational” images are everywhere. How about these…
Do these images inspire you? They don’t inspire me. I know my body won’t look like this no matter how hard I try. And I’m not willing to try THAT hard anyway.
These girls haven’t had a slice of pizza in years!
I think these images give everyday women false hope. If you tape this to your refrigerator as “inspiration”…scratch that I’m dating myself. If you pin this to Pinterest or Facebook, is it because this is the body you are hoping to gain?
Shoot for a size zero and 3% body fat and you are setting yourself up for failure. Chances are you won’t be happy with your own progress when this isn’t your final result. When goals are unattainable, you are more likely to give up and end up in a worse place than you are right now.
Be realistic with your fitness goals and you will know success. I’m not saying you should take the easy route. Losing weight and getting fit is incredibly difficult and you can’t do it without sacrifice and hard work. But take baby steps and you will be more successful in the long run.
I prefer inspirational images that feature real woman who are healthy and active. Like this…
or this..
Or even this….
If this woman got herself to the gym, I know I can too.
This one should have you running, not walking straight to the nearest gym!
Are you inspired by images of scantily clad models pumping iron? If not, what DOES inspire you? Answer this question and you’ve taken your first baby steps to a healthier you.
