Let the record show, there were no lowlights. We got back a little over a week ago. Despite the fact that there was only a three hour time difference, I’m starting to think that I will never feel well-rested again. Toootally worth it.
Our journey started in Valparaíso, Chile…
Famous for its stellar street art and insanely dangerous looking rollar coasters. Nope, they be elevators.
We stayed here in Valle de Elqui, Chile and all of my dreams came true. I may or may not have a Pinterest board entirely dedicated to yurts. An inappropriately generous wedding gift from our friend, Daniel, who unbeknownst to me is the most romantic gent I know.
A long drive through the Atacama Desert. To pass the time, Gunnar composed a remix of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” “My Atacama don’t want none” was about as far as he got. We were all super impressed, honey.
Punto de Choros, Chile. My favorite leg of the trip. We slept on the beach. I ate fish for the first time in 10 years. It was not terrible.
New animal friends. Not shown: penguins, sea otters and sea lions who look just like cute puppies but I am assured are not as friendly.
We domesticated the “wild” beach dogs. They answer to Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit now. The Breakfast Club, if you will.
A quick pit stop before crossing the border into Argentina. I am nearly dead because…
The roads looked liked this ^^^
Nothing a few beers couldn’t solve in Mendoza, Argentina.
I talked about Airbnb here. Juan in Mendoza did not disappoint. We stayed like this for 48 hours and drank all of the Malbec in Argentina. Juan, if you’re reading, the answer is yes, I would love to house sit. Anytime. Or ya know, move in permanently. Whatever’s easiest for you.
We drink to forget… how dirty we are.
