Reminiscing Her College Days At The Loper Games

Fact one: UNK Rocks.

Fact 2: I graduated from UNK in 2005 with a Bachlor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Fact 3: This school taught me about school pride and ignited a love for “The Good Life.”

I’m not in college anymore but my husband is.  This means we still get student discounts which we use as an excuse to go see a game or two. It reminds me of my college days and all the lessons I learned about life. Ah yes, I too, was once a young grasshopper who didn’t know the first thing about life. There, among the motor, brick and football gear, I found my way!  

As we walk to UNK, the smell of grilled hotdogs from the parking lot wafts in the air, so does the smell of freshly cut grass, settled with dew. As we approach the football field, we hear the fight song! 

Come on and fight for UNK,
March on to Victory all the way,
Keep up your fighting spirit,
We¹ll always cheer it,
That¹s what we¹re here for,
That what we¹ll cheer for.

Fight for the Blue and the Gold,
Cheer for the Blue and the Gold,
And then together we stand,
Proud of the best in the land
We fight for UNK!

 

And who is present at nearly every game? Louie the Loper (Kids are little unsure of that fur covered creature).

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, there is a buzz going around UNK as they gear up for Homecoming week and the parade. But its next week  that you will want to stick around. There will be a home game for football against Emporia State University.
