This easy T-shirt headband is perfect for all readers. For you moms out there with itty bitty baby heads that need a cute headband, this is great for you as the soft t-shirt material wont scratch their little heads. For you college students, what a great way to use up old t-shirts (you know you have plenty!). For moms of older girls, why not teach them very basic sewing by making a cute headband they are going to love? For everyone else, its so simple and cute, why not?
First, cut out a chunk of t shirt (wider then you think you will want it as it will stretch and roll) and meaure the size of your head. Make sure it is very snug, t shirts stretch! Then sew the two ends together. I did this by hand.
Now for the flower part. I sew the flower right on to where I made the stitch in my headband. That way, the ugly part is covered up! For this, I took the extra materials, folded it in half, and cut out a sideways “B” along the fold.
In other words, when you open it up, it should look like a butterfly shape. Just like all my other crafts, you do NOT need to be exact on this shape! Mine were all different sizes and funny variations of this basic shape.
Once you have 2 cut out, overlap them in different ways, and stitch just the middle sections together. Really, it is hard to mess this up. I cut out about 14 (7 sets). After each set is overlapped, sew them to the headband where you’d like it to be! The more you cut, the fuller the flower is.
