Just before Christmas, we travelled down to San Antonio with my family to spend a couple of days on the River Walk. And when I say ‘travelled’, I mean DROVE 14 hours. Texas is a long way from Nebraska.
To see a sunrise like this made it worth it, though.
We don’t have any family in that area – my parents really enjoy San Antonio and we have vacationed there before. I haven’t been there in six years so it was fun to show Sam some of the places I remembered from the last visit.
The Alamo, of course, is a must-see. Sam enjoyed seeing it in person and learning more about its history.
The River Walk is a beautiful area in San Antonio with little shops and restaurants lining each side of a canal. We liked to just stroll along the paths and explore the different twists and turns.
In the middle of a Nebraska winter, it was such a nice treat to enjoy Texas weather for a couple of days. We loved the bright colors of the plants and flowers that were flourishing along the river.
Since I work as a photographer, taking pictures can be a chore sometimes rather than a joy. But our last couple of trips I have been trying to be intentional about relaxing behind the camera and taking pictures because I want to and not because I have to.
We were so blessed to be able to spend this time with our family and soak in some Texas sunshine.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and your New Year is off to a great start!
