Oh you guys. What an incredible week. Truly – it’s been amazing and a little bit cray. (Mom, that’s slang for crazy. I think I’ve told you this before, but you know. Just as a reminder.)

Thank you for all the kind words about our new site design. Yeah! We’re pretty excited about it.

But instead of really soaking in the site (like I should have) I’ve been way focused on numbers and advertisers and clicks.

Ugh. I hate this part. Can’t I just find new writers and come up with new content and chat with our wonderful readers/bloggers daily? That’s the fun part. The #notfunpokemeintheeyeIwouldratherhangoutwithskunks part is asking for money. ARGH. Why is this part so important for a business? I know the answer. Duh. But still, it’s not fun.

I’m not good at sales. It’s easy when I know and love the product. That part is actually fun for me. Do I think your advertising dollars will go pretty dang far on Her View From Home? Um, yes. We’re rockin’ 150,000-250,000 views a month. That’s pretty solid. That part has always been easy for me.

The hard part comes when you have to talk yourself up. Do you know what I mean? Here’s my example. It’s like when you have a good hair day. And you KNOW your hair is rockin’ today. And you give yourself a little wink in the mirror before you leave the house because you know you look hot. But you’re not going to tell Betty at the office that you look hot. That’s just plain being cocky. And no one likes cocky, especially Betty.

But I digress.

The site is the same. Do I want you to advertise? Of course! Do I want to call you and ask? Not really.

Some people hate advertisers on sites, period. The end. And I get that. They think it defeats the purpose of the message and gets in the way of the content. I can see that. Point taken. The truth is, however, that when you run a biz that actually pays writers,  you gotta have advertisers. They are our bread and butter. And local advertisers, national advertisers – I could give them all a hug. Because THEY pay you guys (our writers) and THEY help me keep this site a float and provide a really cool platform for everyone to share and connect and build a community across the globe. (And someday, maybe I can pay myself and hire a team to pay and give back and you know, all that fun stuff that money let’s people do.)

Anyway, I like advertisers I just don’t like finding them. That being said, if you would like to find them for me, let’s chat. I can’t pay a full salary but we do offer percentages. Did this coffee chat turn into a job posting?

I think so. Can’t help it. It’s how my brain thinks.

Want to advertise?  Here’s that info. And while we’re at it, here’s how you can write for us, too.

We’re welcoming new writers to the site almost daily now. How fun is that?

One last quick note. I heard this song today and it reminded me of our journey. It was big a couple of years ago when we were really just trying to figure this site all out and I cried when I heard it back then, wondering what the heck I was doing. And while I still wonder, we’re closer than ever before. It’s home to me. It’s home to you. It’s about connection. It’s about your story. And I’m just so darn happy to be a part of it. Now when I hear the song it makes me smile. We’re SO close to having this site take off and become all it can become. To be a place for everyone to connect and share their view. And that makes me pretty dang excited. I hope it does for you, too.

Thanks guys. Have an awesome weekend.
