We make preparations and we try to be organized. We write down all of our special days on the calendar well in advance, and we keep track of our day to day appointments. I recently went through my family’s calendar for the rest of the year dutifully putting in gymnastics, ball practice, Midweek school, days off of school, County Fair, etc.
I made my plans!
That’s when it hit me. I had made all of these plans so that I wouldn’t be caught off guard. But what about the plans God has for me and my family? And will it ruin MY plans? A verse came to mind. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you, ‘ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” To some this sounds peaceful; to others, dreadful. Some of us can roll with the flow; others of us don’t like surprises. With that said, “The Lord fails the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:9-10.
Hmmmm, I think I will write down all MY plans from now on with a pencil!!!
