What to buy in January

Christmas is over!  Have you blown your budget?  ;)

If not, there are a few great deals out there in January.  I didn’t mention after-Christmas sales this time, but you know that wrapping paper is at its lowest price right now.  Scroll to the bottom for grocery sales cycles and what fruits and veggies are in season.

TVs (late December & early January)

These deals are not the EXTREME low prices of Black Friday.  Instead, they are a bit more stable.  The name-brand places drop their prices on their TVs leading up to the Super Bowl.

Big Kid Toys: Boats, Bikes, Motorcycles

Now that Christmas is over those stores are pretty slow.  Now’s your time to make a deal.

Homes or Condos

This is the worst time of the year to SELL a house… and that means the BEST time to BUY.  Anyone with a house on the market is likely ready to chop some prices.

Carpet and Flooring

They are in high demand right before company comes over for the holidays.  Now they’ll be eager to pick up the phone and lay some carpet or other flooring.

Air Conditioners

Come the first hot day of the spring and you won’t be able to find an air conditioner installer available in the whole county, but in January they are cooling their heels. Now is a great time to get three quotes (you DO get multiple quotes, right?) for that new system. Come the first hot day of the summer, you’ll be cool as a cucumber.

Video Games

Stores stocked up and pushed up prices for Christmas.  Now they’re chopping prices to make room for other stuff.

Bedding and  Bath – White Sales

Many stores will be dropping prices to sell you new sheets, comforters, towels and pillows, at the year’s best prices. (Photo Source)
