If you aren’t caught through season 4, please beware of spoilers.

Downton Abbey Season 5 premieres on January 4th at 8:00 pm on PBS, and I recently got the chance to sneak peek the first hour of the two hour season premiere! NET put on a very English inspired premiere party in Omaha, Lincoln, and Scottsbluff for the season 5 premiere of Downtown Abbey.

I attend the party in Omaha at the Marcus Midtown Cinema. The event was complete with Downton inspired drink specials and fun swag like Downton bags of tea, NET pens and notebooks, VIP discount cards to Midtown Crossing, and fun Downton Abbey give aways. A few guests got into the spirit of the show and came in costume!

Season 5 is full of secrets and scandals with butler Jimmy being hounded by a former employer who took quite a liking to him and has invited herself to Downton for tea. Thomas is still black mailing Miss. Baxter, but will she confess her secret to Lady Cora and risk losing her job before Thomas can rat her out?

Edith is still on the search for Gregson and desperately longs to have a relationship with her secret daughter being raised by farm tenants of Downton Abbey.  Although they have no idea the baby they took in was Edith’s, does she unknowingly reveal her secret after she stops by for a visit?

Mary gets a proposal from  Lord Gillingham, but not quite what she expected. And coming up this season there will be a cameo by George Clooney, who will be playing an American who has come to Downton as a wedding guest. It is yet to be revealed how he is connected to the Grantham family.

This and more await the fans of Downton Abbey in season 5!
