When a mama says she’s tired, she means it. The

When a mama says she’s tired, she means it.

The tiredness a mama feels is not just physical.

The tiredness a mama feels is that of pure, utter exhaustion.

Because, a mama’s body?
It is simply nothing short of a sponge.

Absorbing the entirety of the world around her. Those responsibilities she’s supposed to hold and honor. As well as the endless reel of worries, she simply cannot ignore. The flood of feelings she just can't prevent from drowning her heart.

Guilt.
Fear.
Anguish.
Heartache.
Loneliness.
Comparison.

There comes a point when a mama's body starts to cry out. A point when it begins to ache to its core. A point when she feels like she could sleep for a week, and it still wouldn’t be enough. Her back, perpetually hurting. Her knees throbbing. Her hands cracked and rough from spending hours under water each week; cleaning, wiping, washing, sanitizing. Her feet overdue for some attention and care, as she spends each-and-every moment of her time awake, carrying and caring-for others. Her eyes, dry and swollen from always trying to keep one open; protecting her precious babies from the enemy’s relentless prowl.

But there comes a point when a mama's load just becomes too heavy. A point when she is beyond-saturated with life's burdens. A point when she needs someone to gently wring her out and let her take some time to dry, so she can prepare to absorb again.

When a mama says she’s tired, she means it.
And when she finally admits it, believe me,
it's taken everything in her to do just that.
Because a mama is simply used to carrying the load; not asking anyone to take on hers.

When a mama says she's tired, she means it.
She doesn’t need questions.
She doesn’t need comments.

She simply needs someone to show her the grace of Jesus Himself. And to step in to carry her load, even for just a small while.

With the quiet understanding that a few minutes of someone sharing the heaviness she carries, can make an absolute world of difference to her weary body, heart, and soul.

I dreamed of you before I met you. I pictured lit

I dreamed of you before I met you.

I pictured little curls that would form at the small of your neck.

I wondered if those eyes would be a light blue like your father’s or if when I looked at you, I would see myself and see brown eyes.

I imagined those first few steps and how you’d walk to me and the tears of joy and sadness that I would cry. Joy because of this milestone and sadness at how quickly time moves.

I dreamed of your giggle and the sounds of your laughter.

I wondered if your hair color would be a reddish brown like mine or if you’d be more blonde like your dad.

I pictured our days of playing together and watching you grow. And I pictured our nights of cuddling as I rocked you to sleep, holding you so tight.

Before I knew you, I had a picture of you in my mind and, baby, you sure outbeat every possible scenario I ever dreamed of.

But before I knew you, years and years before I even dreamed of you, you were already being dreamed up by someone else. Before you were even in my womb, God was setting a plan in motion for you.

He knew the exact color of those eyes and that hair.

He knew the sounds of those giggles and the wobbles of those first few steps.

He sketched everything out that would eventually be all of those moments that were just wonders to me.

He dreamed you up before you were even a thought in my mind.

You were His before you were ever mine and when I think about how much I love you, gosh, it’s a love that I never could’ve imagined. I love you so much that it hurts but then I remember, I didn’t love you first—He did.

And as hard as it is to imagine, my sweet child, He loves you more.
