Baked Apples

Wonderful little project for the kiddos in the fall. Tastes great with ice cream!!

Ingredients

  • 4-6 apples we used some from grandpa's farm
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp butter or more...
  • cinnamon optional
  • ice cream optional

Tools

  • Apple peeler
  • Small scoop spoon or apple corer
  • Baking dish

Instructions

  • Combine brown sugar and vanilla in a small bowl and stir until combined. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Peel skin around the top of each apple and then core or scoop out the seeds without puncturing the bottom. Place apples in a baking dish.
  • Fill each apple with the brown sugar mixture and top with butter.
  • Fill pan with enough water to just cover the bottom and cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes or until apples are fork tender.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Serve warm with dinner or as dessert!
