A Gift for Mom! 🤍

Everyone talks about the kindergarten graduates, with their tiny caps that won’t stay put, the too-big gowns, the beaming, missing-teeth smiles.

And who can resist their sweet little voices in the year-end memory slideshow saying, “I want to be a firefighter-vet-princess-scientist when I grow up?”

Cue all the tears.

But we don’t talk enough about the kindergarten moms.

You’re the ones who walked them through school doors last fall, holding hands that felt impossibly small.

You’re the ones who smiled big and extra brave so your kids would be too.

You’re the ones who packed snacks, signed reading logs, and remembered pajama day, picture day, show and tell day… and all the ordinary days in between.

You’re the ones who made it through early mornings and long nights, sometimes hiding your own tears, and whispering those constant prayers.

You’re the ones who watched your babies grow more independent with every passing day, not quite realizing how drastic the change has been until right now.

Somewhere between lunchbox notes and sight word flashcards, you helped your children unlock brand-new confidence.

I bet you discovered a bit of your own too.

So if your heart feels a little tender at kindergarten graduation, know you’re not alone.

It’s their big day, yes—but it’s a little bit yours too.

As you close this chapter, remember neither one of you needs to have it all figured out for first grade.

You just need to keep showing up—with love, curiosity, and the joy overflowing in your hearts today.

Here’s to you, kindergarten moms. You did it!

Dear Kindergarten Graduate, My Hand Will Always Be Yours to Hold

In: Child, Kids, Motherhood

Tomorrow you’ll graduate kindergarten. You chose the perfect shirt for the occasion. It’s a blue and white button-up. “Get one with big checkers, Mom, not little ones,” was your request. I know it’ll make your eyes pop from under your too-big red graduation hat. It’s going to be adorable. You’re going to be adorable.  You’ve been counting down the days. You’re ready and, truthfully, I am too—even though I’m so often in denial about how quickly this time with you is passing. Didn’t you just start crawling? How is it possible you’ll already be in first grade next year? RELATED:...

A Letter To My Kindergarten Graduate

A Letter to my kindergarten graduate www.herviewfromhome.com

Dear Ella, Sweet baby girl, I can’t believe your kindergarten year is over. Everyone told me it would go quickly and of course they were right. You survived a year of firsts: New friends, new school, new routine, and you did it all in stride. Your mom survived too, although I think you handled it better than I did. Remember the first day when we walked hand in hand into that big new school building? I was so nervous for you and I think you were a little scared, although you did a good job hiding those jitters. I didn’t....

Before You Go to Kindergarten…

In: Kids
5 year old kindergarten girl walking to school

After attending my first event at my daughter’s soon-to-be school this fall, I came home and it hit me. This is happening. This is really happening. Kindergarten. There is no pause and there is certainly no rewind. From this moment forward, I cannot go back (let’s be honest, I never could go back but I liked having that made-up option in my mind!). Come this fall, you will be in school full time. I sat down and got a pit in my stomach. You know, the kind you used to get before a big test you know you didn’t study...
