I meet with Jesus every day among the chaos of motherhood.

Some days I meet with Him with a kid on my hip.

Most days it’s with a cold cup of coffee in one hand and my Bible in the other.

Some days I get up early enough so I can start my day off right. (But this isn’t too often the case as the kids get up earlier and earlier.)

Most days it’s after the children have gone to sleep and the house is quiet.

Other days I meet with Him while I’m doing the dishes or folding the laundry.

Some days we can have a good chunk of time together.

A lot of the time we just meet up in the quick moments between feeding children and changing diapers.

But He’s there for me, every day in all of the mundane moments and all of the noise within the house.

If you’re a mom of littles, I’m sure you can relate. You know all too well that our attention gets pulled in multiple directions throughout the day. You know about the exhaustion we feel and how that extra 30 minutes of sleep can make or break our day.

You know how there is very little quiet time and how you can’t ever get a moment of peace for yourself, let alone with Jesus. I do my best to get my quiet time once a day, but a lot of the time, once a day is not enough.

Motherhood is hard, and I usually need more time with Him to get me through the day.

And so, I meet with Him while cutting a peanut butter sandwich up for my daughter

Or I meet Him at the bathroom sink as I’m brushing my teeth.

Or we catch up as I’m cooking dinner for my family of four.

Or He meets me in the living room as I’m vacuuming up the Goldfish crumbs for the tenth time that day.

No matter where I am or what I’m doing–He’s there.

He meets with me among the messy motherhood life.

Every. Single. Day.

And I sure am grateful He takes me as I am . . .

Cold coffee, kid on the hip, dirty diapers, and all.

6 Bold Prayers To Pray Over Your Children Daily

In: Faith, Motherhood
Mother with child in bed

Motherhood is a multi-faceted job. One of the many ways we mother our kids is by praying for them. In different seasons, motherhood demands of us long, short, weary, joyful, or desperate prayers. They make up the lifelong dialogue with have with God about our children.  In times of silence, noise, and uncertainty, our prayers are woven together into a mantle of faithfulness. This mantle covers our little ones from the day they are born until long after they’re grown. It’s part of the fabric of motherhood. Not Just Bedtime Prayers: 70 Faith-Focused Questions To Ask Your Kids Each Day www.herviewfromhome.com

Our article, 50 Questions To Ask Your Kids Instead Of Asking ‘How Was Your Day’ has been a huge hit with all of you (and in my home, too).  Seriously, my girls love it. Mom and dad do as well. Last night as I was reading your comments, I decided we needed a faith specific version of these questions. (Thanks middle of the night nursing session for my ‘thinking’ time.) And so our writers came through (again) with these 70 questions to ask your kids. I love this list so much.. maybe even more than the first. I hope it helps...

Is Satan Stealing Our Families?

In: Faith, Motherhood

This past year I read a book with my daughter called Little House in the Big Woods. You may be familiar with it. It’s the first book written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and it began the popular Little House on the Prairie series. I don’t recall reading it before, and as I read it to my five year old, I think I enjoyed it even more than she did. Something about the way the family lived, it intrigued me. I love my internet tremendously, but the simplicity and closeness this family shared sounded really wonderful to me. The idea...
