Pastor Rebecca McDermott, Associate Pastor, First Lutheran Church in Kearney Pastor Rebecca is a native of Lincoln, NE. She received her bachelor of journalism from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1995 and spent 1996 - 2001 working in the Los Angeles, CA area. She first worked several years for Disney Feature Animation in their story development department, then moved into the realm of marketing and advertising where she served as a graphic designer and marketing director both in Pasadena, CA and Lincoln, NE until 2004. In 2004, she answered God's call to ministry and was accepted to Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota where she earned her Master of Divinity in 2008. First Lutheran Church in Kearney called Pastor Rebecca to their congregation in the spring of 2009. "My goal is to help make the Biblical witness come alive for people so it connects to their daily lives. Human beings haven't changed that much - just our style of writing has.
