I don’t necessarily miss high school or college. But gosh, sometimes I miss being close to my friends.
Hear me out, I have incredible friends who I feel close to. But I miss being really close to them.
I miss literally living with some of them or at least in the same town.
I miss knowing everything going on in their day and life.
I miss doing things like getting fast food and grocery shopping together. Or having fun plans and trips to look forward to.
I miss crying together, laughing together, watching ridiculous shows together.
I don’t miss making some pretty poor decisions together, but I do miss always having them there to talk through the consequences with.
I miss that closeness. I miss them being in arms reach.
I have learned as I’ve grown up, that friendships are harder to manage when families start and adult responsibilities hit.

But they are also so much more important now, too.
Because now I can recognize just how much I appreciate and love my people. I can see how much I need them and how much life their friendship gives me.
And even though I don’t get to see them nearly as much, they are more precious to me than ever.
Sure, we may not ever get to live our wild, carefree lives together again.
But now we get to be in a new phase.
One that’s deeper, and more appreciative.
I’m forever thankful to have friendships that time apart and distance can’t break.
I thank God daily for these people.
They are a true blessing.
Let’s make sure we tell our friends how much we love them.
