The good things in life are also the hard things.
Raising children is good.
And it’s hard.
Marriage is good.
And it’s hard.
Growing older is good.
And it’s hard.
Pursuing our dreams is good.
And it’s hard.
Watching our parents age and giving thanks for another year with them is good.
And it’s hard.
In my life, I see so much goodness.
But I also see the challenge.
Many people I love are facing hard things right now.
We are dealing with our children growing and our parents aging. There are challenges at work and at home and with finances. There has been devastating loss that has left people with gaping holes in their hearts. There is a balancing act we are all participating in each and every day.
It’s not always easy.
But it’s not all bad.
It is good.
It is hard.
And we all are trying our best with the unique hand we’ve been given and all our beautiful and challenging moments.
That’s what I try to remember.
We never know what someone is going through.
So offer as many smiles, words of encouragement, tissues, cheers from the sidelines, and open arms as you can.
Because life is good.
And it’s hard.
