Have your kids joined in the Poopsie Slime Surprise toy fad?
The toys—made by MGA Entertainment, the company behind popular L.O.L Surprise Dolls and Little Tikes brand products—are small plastic figures in themed packaging.
Canadian mom and writer Brianna Bell says in a Facebook post that after her daughter got a “Bessie Cowpie” surprise at a birthday party over the weekend, she was curious about the number printed on the toy’s chocolate milk carton-themed case.
“I figure some older kids might want to call this number, and I wondered if the toy manufacturer would consider this. Maybe the number will lead to a cute little cartoony clip,” Bell writes in her post.
Bell decided to call the number—and was horrified at what she discovered.
“I dialed the number, and heard a recorded voice on the other line. Mid-moan. The number leads to a porn line.”
We tried the number too, and there’s no doubt about it—the phone number leads to X-rated pornography. Printed on a children’s toy.
An MGA Entertainment customer service representative reached by phone Tuesday afternoon said, “Upon learning about this issue we immediately implemented a course of action and moving froward the phone number has been removed from the product.” A request for a comment from corporate headquarters was pending at the time of this writing.
Bell’s discovery is a good reminder for all parents—it’s incredibly important for us to be vigilant and hold companies accountable for the products they’re marketing to our kids.
