A Gift for Mom! 🤍

Mothers try. Every day we try to be the best mothers we can be. The best we know how. But we often fall short in our own eyes because we want to be better.

As a mother, I try my best. But I often feel like I’m failing. There is no blueprint for motherhood, and I can’t help but feel like I’m falling short. I want to do better and to be better, but often, I don’t know how.

Most of the time, I don’t feel equipped and wonder what I’m doing and think about the ripple effect of every wrong choice I make and its impact.

Am I enough? This is a question I often ponder when it comes to my mothering. And I can thank comparison for truly being the thief of so much joy because someone is always better.

There are so many things I fall short of as a mother and wonder how can I ready my children when I’m often lost too. How do I prepare my children for this world when I don’t even know how to take on this world myself?

Thankfully, Jesus is ready to take all our fears and worries when it comes to motherhood or anything else for that matter. He proclaims that His yoke is easy and His burden light. And that we don’t have to walk through this life alone and in the dark.

Mothers try, but with Jesus, we don’t need to try. We just need to let. To let Him guide us with His light.

We Try On Many Moms, But the Best One Is You

I love fashion. I love dressing up. Most of the time, I’ll walk into a clothing store and grab a handful of items to try on that I know will work for me—right style, right color, right fit. But sometimes, just for funsies, I’ll grab an item that doesn’t usually tickle my fancy. Maybe this time, I’ll be surprised. Maybe today, I’ll rock that puffy sleeve or look hot in that wide-brimmed hat. Maybe today, pastels will be my color, or that push-up bra will actually push something (anything!) up. Maybe, this time, I’ll stand in front of the mirror...

Even on Your Hardest Day, You’re Still a Good Mom

The bedtime routines were all complete, and my husband and I collapsed on the couch. Finally having a chance to talk uninterrupted, my husband asked me, “So, how was today?” The immediate response sprang to my mind. Not good. I thought about the times I lost my patience when the baby was wiggling during an exceptionally messy diaper change and when the girls were fighting for the third time before 10 a.m. Or I thought about the time after naps when I felt bored and not present. I thought about the time I yelled right before dinner started while I...

The Fact That You Worry About Being a Good Mom Means You Already Are One

In: Faith, Motherhood
mom and daughter outside by water

Every day, I come home from work a little after 5 p.m., and I walk through the front door only to be met with a barrage of questions:  What time is it?  Can I have a snack?  Can you take off my shoes? Have you seen my toy?  Can I have juice? Most days, I’m expecting these questions from my littles who have been brought home by their dad only a few moments earlier. I’m fully aware that the hour between getting home and eating dinner is the most hectic hour of the day. (Can I get an amen?)  RELATED:...
