Dear momma,

You got this. Every fiber of your being was uniquely designed to do what you say you can’t. Your uniqueness, talents, drive, warmth, and smiles are all part of God’s perfect plan. Being a mother is no easy task. It requires the Lord, patience, endurance, steadfastness, and a friend.

Dear momma,

I’ll be your friend. We don’t have to have the same beliefs or ways of doing things to share our burdens with each other. Know that my walk weighs heavily on God, His strength, His peace and His purpose. I will share my heart with you and give you space to share yours. Motherhood is hard. Even if we don’t have anything else in common, know that we both are called.

Dear momma,

Don’t walk motherhood alone. You’re meant to be surrounded by community and to be able to share and laugh in a safe space. Don’t keep yourself shut in and afraid of what others might think. Don’t live in fear. We are human, and we fail a lot, but we are not our failures. We are created in the image of God. To attack yourself with self-doubt, ill words, or anything else is to attack the Creator who said you were good.

Dear momma,

You’re more precious than rubies. You are loved and adored even if you don’t believe. I have faith that you will know the One who created you. Letting Him be your strength, comfort, strong tower, and compass in the lost times.

Dear momma,

Your children are your mission. I know it seems lonely at times, but you are directly in the mission field. There are days you’re beaten and battered, but you find yourself getting right back up. Your work is for the Kingdom. It’s not insignificant. It is not in vain. Don’t worry about always trying to move to the next thing. Nothing in this life seems satisfactory because life here is only temporary. Work on being satisfied in the moment. Commit yourself to being present in all circumstances: the good and the bad. Feed your body with daily bread and drink from the living water.

Dear momma,

The Lion of Judah lives inside you and has given you the authority to ROAR. Don’t allow the enemy to steal your joy, take away your peace, and rock the steady foundation. I’ll walk alongside you as you journey to know the Lord, discover your identity in him, know your calling, and raise your children in this world.

Dear momma,

Do you know the work you’re doing will continue for generations to come? The quirky little things you do, the traditions you start, the books you hold on to, the songs you
hold dear, the praise you give the Father, and the prayers you pray out loud are all heard by the ones who will carry it on. What you do matters. Your work is significant. You are a part of an endless, God-fearing future. Keep praying. Keep teaching.
Keep believing and keep holding on to the promises spoken.

Dear momma,

You got this.

Praying For Your Kids is Holy Work of Motherhood

While excavating Mount Masada in Israel, archeologists discovered something extraordinary . . . a date palm seed. It might not seem like much (especially if you’re like me and totally expected it to be a new dinosaur or something), but this particular seed sat dormant in the dry desert soil for almost 2,000 years. Scientists ended up finding several more seeds like it throughout the Judean desert, and with a little TLC, they were able to sprout not just one but six of them. Six date palm trees, now bearing fruit that hasn’t been seen in two millennia. Incredible, right?...

I Want To Be a Friend Like Jesus

In: Faith, Friendship, Living

I sit in my recliner this morning, covered up with my blanket, listening to the outside sounds of the slow morning going on outside my window. I’ve already prayed and read my Bible study, ready for my day to begin. I grab my phone and send out texts to my friends, “How are y’all feelin this mornin?” See, a nasty, nasty bug has swept through our community like a hurricane. I feel like every day, a different person has come down with it. Bless their hearts. (As I close my door and spray Lysol throughout the air!) After I send...

In the Hardest Moments of Motherhood, I’m Reminded to Look Up

In: Faith, Motherhood

It’s 3:00 in the afternoon, and you know the scene—I step on a tiny Barbie shoe as I’m walking to the sink. I shove it to the side with my foot and release a heavy sigh. I momentarily think about picking it up, but my back is aching from bending down to gather up treasures all morning. I place my half-filled coffee cup into the microwave to re-heat it for a second time. I need just an ounce of energy to get through the afternoon. My daughter heaves another basket of toys up from the basement, step by step. I can...
