Everyone talks about the kindergarten graduates, with their tiny caps that won’t stay put, the too-big gowns, the beaming, missing-teeth smiles.
And who can resist their sweet little voices in the year-end memory slideshow saying, “I want to be a firefighter-vet-princess-scientist when I grow up?”
Cue all the tears.
But we don’t talk enough about the kindergarten moms.
You’re the ones who walked them through school doors last fall, holding hands that felt impossibly small.
You’re the ones who smiled big and extra brave so your kids would be too.
You’re the ones who packed snacks, signed reading logs, and remembered pajama day, picture day, show and tell day… and all the ordinary days in between.
You’re the ones who made it through early mornings and long nights, sometimes hiding your own tears, and whispering those constant prayers.
You’re the ones who watched your babies grow more independent with every passing day, not quite realizing how drastic the change has been until right now.
Somewhere between lunchbox notes and sight word flashcards, you helped your children unlock brand-new confidence.
I bet you discovered a bit of your own too.
So if your heart feels a little tender at kindergarten graduation, know you’re not alone.
It’s their big day, yes—but it’s a little bit yours too.
As you close this chapter, remember neither one of you needs to have it all figured out for first grade.
You just need to keep showing up—with love, curiosity, and the joy overflowing in your hearts today.
Here’s to you, kindergarten moms. You did it!
