I will not apologize for being that mom who takes her baby out to eat, puts a cover in the highchair before putting my baby in it, wipes down every crevice with my antibacterial baby safe wipes, including the table that Daddy and I are sitting at, which the baby will not even touch.
I will not apologize for being that mom when baby #2 comes and I don’t do any of that.
I will not apologize for being that mom who tries to make sure my baby gets a well-balanced meal with fresh fruit and vegetables, all homemade.
I will not apologize for being that mom who is so exhausted that today my baby is getting boxed mac and cheese and microwaved pancakes for every meal.
I will not apologize for being that mom who has a full-on guilt trip every time I need to run even one errand without my baby, much less do something for myself.
I will not apologize for being that mom who needs to lock myself in the bathroom from time to time to just breath and have five seconds of silence.
I will not apologize for being that mom who rocks my baby to sleep every night.
I will not apologize for being that mom who puts my baby in the crib, walks out, and lets her cry herself to sleep.
I will not apologize for being that mom who has a mess of a house because I chose to play with my baby instead of cleaning.
I will not apologize for being that mom who can’t stand a messy house and will put my baby in front of the tv while I clean.
At the end of the day, if my baby is healthy, safe, happy, and loved, I will never apologize for being that mom.
