Have you ever found yourself easily irritated, getting annoyed with things that normally wouldn’t bother you, and you aren’t sure why?
April is here! We’re getting some nice rain showers and it’s finally spring! It’s one of my favorite times of year. New baby animals on the farm, green grass, flowers sprouting, and the snow is hopefully over until late next fall.
Normally, spring makes me feel alive, refreshed, and full of inspiration.
After snapping at one of my kids this afternoon at a volleyball game, and catching myself thinking, “REALLY!?” I am ready for a new type of spring cleaning. If you have found yourself in a similar situation, I’d love for you to join me in a fun little project: spring cleaning my attitude!
I can’t exactly pinpoint what it is that has put me in need of a spring cleaning, but I can definitely feel the need to have one. I don’t like being frustrated over small things, snapping at my family, and letting emotions win.
Just like spring cleaning your home, spring cleaning your attitude doesn’t have to be a ton of work, you can pick and choose the areas that need cleaned the most (or are the most urgent).
Spring cleaning my attitude starts with appreciating the wonderful people and things I have (that I love dearly). A kind, loving husband, healthy children, a comfortable home, and happy surroundings. As I’ve told my oldest daughter, gratitude is the cure for a bad attitude. By focusing on just two or more things you are grateful for can really help turn a bad attitude into an attitude of gratefulness.
The next step is taking care of myself. This includes getting enough sleep, eating foods that my body craves (like fruits and vegetables and drinking water), taking walks and getting exercise, and practicing self-care! (You can access my free self-care calendar that I publish every month here.
I’m also going to embrace the season with enjoying some fresh flowers, working outside, and enjoying the warmer temperatures and sunshine.
Have you found yourself needing a spring cleaning? What do you do when you need to spring clean your attitude?
