Are you even an American female if you can’t sing the Golden Girls theme song? I mean, if you haven’t belted out “and if you threw a party…invited everyone you knew” to one of your BFFs, I’ve got bad news for you: you’re not actually BFFs. As odd as it may seem, the show about four geriatric single ladies and its iconic theme song and characters was the staple of many an American girl’s childhood. And we are all the better for it!
That’s why I was so excited to see that the Golden Girls house is for sale!
Yes, that’s right, the dreamy dwelling owned by Blanche and shared by Dorothy, Sophia, and Rose is on the market for the first time ever.
And mamas, I think we all need to chip in and make it the ultimate mom getaway time share!
Though Golden Girls was set in Miami, Florida, the actual house is in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. And although it was used just for exterior shots and the inside was actually a sound stage, seeing the photo evokes all kinds of warm and fuzzy TV memories for me.
Of course, if you look at the photos of the actual inside of the house, you’re gonna want it not because of the memories, but because it is fan-freaking-TASTIC! I mean, HELLOOO!
Turns out, the house was custom-built in 1955 by a Hawaiian modern architect and is full of homages to Hawaiian and Japanese culture. And….it’s just plain gorgeous. Seriously, can you imagine gathering with your mom friends in this space?? It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms so you can grab the Dorothy, Sophia, and Rose to your Blanche and have a comfortable, fashionable, sublime girls getaway.
So, I say we all get with our mom friends and start the GoFundMe of all GoFundMes to make the Golden Girls house the best time share ever.
I mean, I know it’s listed at a cool $2.99 million…but can you really put a price on living out your girls getaway dreams at such an iconic place? Ha! Whoever buys this place and shares it with her friends could truly sing “You would see the biggest gift would be from me” without a doubt!
If you could choose any “TV house” to vacation in or own, which one would it be?
