My 5 year old self started squealing with delight this morning when I heard the intro piano music streaming from my phone as the camera zoomed in on the disheveled, cursed castle. And then my 30 year old self gasped as I saw her ride up the castle on her horse; she walked through the doors and he stepped into the light.
For those of us who sobbed for days when Downton Abbey’s Matthew Crawley died and have desperately missed the intelligence, bravery, and whit of Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger, this is not a test. This is real life. And for those of us who dreamed of growing up to be Belle; the strong and independent, yet loyal and compassionate peasant girl turned Disney Princess. Well, we’re kind of dying a little bit. I happen to fall into both of these categories, so I’m basically baking a cake, crying with excitement, and throwing a party to celebrate that Disney is coming out with the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast on March 17, 2017.
Not only is Beauty and the Beast one of the most beloved romantic Disney classics of all time, but it’s a story that I want my own two little Princesses at home to carry in their hearts like I have mine. We can’t wait for a whole new generation of dreamers to experience the romance, the magic, and of course the music of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
So get your calendars marked, friends. And get ready to by Disney’s guest and fall in love all over again.
