Our Keepsake Journal is Here! 🎉

When I say that you’re everything, I mean it. But they’re not just empty words; I want you to know what I see when I look at you.

I mean that your beauty is more than what the mirror shows. It’s the beautiful heart and soul that’s on the inside. It’s the caring heart that hates to see others suffer. It’s the heart that’s conflicted because it wants to do more to help. That my darling is where your true beauty shines through. Beautiful outside, yes, but beautiful insidethat’s what makes your outward beauty glow.

I mean that your energy and passion for the things you love give me life. It encourages me to find something I’m passionate about too.

I mean that your intelligence is powerful. Not just in a book-smart kind of way, which you are, but in the way that you can see obstacles and find ways to solve them. Sometimes independently, sometimes asking for help, but you’re smart enough to know the difference.

Everything implies so much, but it’s true.

You’re the freedom found in driving with the windows down and hair blowing all around.

You’re the first step on a new adventure when the anticipation takes your breath away.

You’re the transformation of a butterfly that makes everyone marvel.

Some days you’re the storm crashing on the sea, reshaping a shell’s purpose.

Some days you push me to my limits, other days you remind me of all I can do.

Being with you reminds me that there are no limits in this life; only the ones we put on ourselves. And each day you remind me to push further.

So when the world tells you you’re not enough, as undoubtedly it will try to do, just remember sweet child that you are more than enough, quite simply you are everything.

You’re everything I wish this world could be and so much more.

What a Privilege it is To Raise a Little Girl

In: Motherhood
Little girl in grass

What a privilege it is to raise a little girl. There’s just something about a little girl. Oh, boys are special, there’s no doubt about it. Your mama heart will melt every time that boy snuggles in your lap and plants a sticky kiss right on your cheek. Boys aren’t easy, not by any means, but some things are just simpler with them. Because a little girl? She is soft and sweet in the most adorable of ways, but when she pouts that lip and pops that hip, God help the soul who tries to change her mind. One moment...

Dear Daughter, Don’t Let the World Break You

In: Child, Faith, Motherhood
Mother and daughter touch foreheads

Baby girl, you are so incredibly beautiful. So delicate. So beautifully breakable. And because of that, I am afraid for you. The world broke me. Like so many beautiful things in this world, I was delicate. And like so many things in this world, I broke. But I didn’t break on my own. I was broken. The world broke me. The world broke me the first time I heard the lies and believed them. The world spoke through the mouth of a girl, probably broken herself, and I listened. The world broke me when it whispered I was too big....

I Thought I Knew Who I Was, But Then I Had You

In: Motherhood
Mom hugging child

I thought I knew who I was, but then I had you. I did not appreciate my talents, my beauty, or my brain—that is until I had you. I did not realize I was important or completely whole, just as I am, until I had you. You see, being the mother of a little girl is hard work, but it is the most glorious, heartwarming, and raw thing a mom could ever do. This is not to ignore my bond with your brother–that has a dirt-covered greatness all its own. Having a daughter, though, is just something special, something different,...
