Today was such a lovely day that my three younger sisters and I played outside on our porch.

We drew with chalk for a while and then we started playing with ‘helicopters’ (I’m not sure what they are actually called – but that’s what I grew up calling them!).

I showed my sisters how you can toss them up in the air and they will spin back down to the ground. Then we looked at its intricate pattern and shape. We started looking around the yard for other ‘signs of spring’ and found that the irises are about to bloom.

As I sat on our porch swing enjoying the warm air and the sounds of birds singing, I looked at the way the sunlight came through our porch and fell on a flowering bush.

I thanked God for spring and for sunlight and for flowers… and just for an afternoon on the porch.
