Sunday is the day we celebrate Dad. We let him sleep in and give him presents like unfashionable ties and funny coffee mugs.
But the title of Dad isn’t always determined by genetics, and there are millions of men who step up to be a father-figure for children they aren’t related to by blood.
That’s what makes Budweiser’s latest commercial, which celebrates the relationship children have with their stepfathers, so special.
Budweiser, which has tugged at our heartstrings so many times with their Clydesdale horses and Dalmatian fire dogs, took a different approach with their latest ad, which is a short film sharing the true stories of stepchildren who surprised their stepdads by officially removing “step” from their title and asked to be legally adopted.
I’m not ugly crying. You are.
Whether a stepdad factors into your life or not, the video will give you all the feels.
This #FathersDay, watch how 3 stepchildren surprised their stepfathers with the greatest gift they could give. To Mark, Paul, Randy, and all fathers, #ThisBudsForYou. Tell us your story of a father in your life. For every story, we will donate $1 to the Stepfamily Foundation. pic.twitter.com/RNqKDErflz

According to a statement made by Budweiser: “On a day when the world celebrates fathers, Budweiser wants to shine an unexpected light on fatherhood. That’s why this Father’s Day, Budweiser is toasting stepfathers who love their stepchildren like their own,” Monica Rustgi, vice president of marketing for Budweiser.
And we say cheers to that.
