Friends star Matthew Perry has reportedly died at age 54.
According to law enforcement, Perry appears to have drowned at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.
The actor was best known for his role as Chandler Bing, who he played for 10 years on the hit series Friends alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.
In 2022, Perry released a memoir titled Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing about his family, his rise to fame, and his lifelong battle with addiction. In it, he detailed his multiple trips to rehab, and his near-death experience in 2018 when opioid use caused his colon to burst—after which he was given a two percent chance of survival.
Last year, the actor told the Washington Post in an interview about the book, “Sometimes I think I went through the addiction, alcoholism and fame all to be doing what I’m doing right now, which is helping people.”
There were no signs of foul play, and an investigation into the death is ongoing.
Rest in peace, our friend . . . thanks for all the laughs.
To think we won’t ever be able to see them all together again is beyond heartbreaking 💔 rip Matthew Perry pic.twitter.com/Q1yDnQbj2X
