We’re running out of time for surprises in the calendar year, but it looks like Netflix is poised to deliver one more—and it’s a big one.
The highly anticipated docuseries featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is ready and we’re getting our first glimpse.
And judging by the official teaser, it looks like this 6-episode series will be bringing the drama.
The one-minute teaser for Harry & Meghan opens with an off-camera voice asking, “Why did you want to make this documentary?” Music plays while black and white candid images of the pair flash onscreen. As a photo of Meghan crying appears, Harry’s voice answers, “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.” The following shot is of Prince William’s wife, Kate; a few seconds later, Harry appears on-camera saying, “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”
A string of dramatic images and clips builds with music and we see Harry sinking back on a couch and Meghan wiping tears from her eyes. The teaser ends with Meghan on-camera saying, “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
And there certainly is a lot to their story.
Following their marriage in 2018, a rift between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Royal family led to the pair officially splitting from it in 2021. Now they live in California, where they’re raising their son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1.

They traveled back to England in September when Queen Elizabeth II died, attending the funeral and appearing alongside the grieving family. But plenty of tension within the inner circle of the Royal family appears to remain, and there is, undoubtedly, a lot we don’t know. Until now, perhaps?
The Netflix synopsis describes Harry & Meghan like this:
“In an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the other side of their high-profile love story. Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other. From the critically-acclaimed, two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, ‘Harry & Meghan’ is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history.”
No release date has been announced, but it’s rumored to be streaming in time for Christmas.
