A Gift for Mom! 🤍

Here’s to the friendships.

Here’s to the childhood friends.
The friends who have grown up together.
The friends who have seen us at our best and our worst.
The friends who know each other’s secrets.
The friends who know where we came from.
The friends who made us laugh uncontrollably.
The friends we ran to when our hearts were broken.
The friends we stayed up with all night on the phone.
The friends we got in trouble with and the friends we would get in trouble for.
The friends who have seen us fall on our faces.
The friends who have laughed at us and the friends who have laughed with us.
The friends who have scraped us up off the floor.
The friends who cheered us on and celebrated our lives.
The friends who have moved away.
The friendships that have survived space and time.
The friends who no longer talk daily but will drop everything in an emergency or just because.
The friends who reminisce with us and will stay up all night laughing and talking.
The friends who are honorary aunties to each other’s kids.
The friendships that have overcome falling outs.
And the friends who are closer than ever.

Here’s to the friendships we made as adults.
The college friends who walked beside us as we figured out what we wanted and who we were.
The work friends, the ones who get us through each day.
The mommy friends who have walked with us from diapers to diplomas.
The friends who are genuinely surprised when we talk about our formative years.
The friends who love us anyway.
The friends who show up when you need them.
The friends who don’t care what your house looks like but will also cook you a meal, do your dishes, and fold your laundry.
The friends you can say “TMI” to, who say there is no TMI between friends.
The friends who will go to bat for you, sometimes with a bat.
The friends who will drop to their knees and pray with you and for you.
The friends who hurt when you hurt and cry when you cry.
The friends who give you strength.
The friends who make you laugh until you cry.
The friends who call just to do a wellness check.
The friends you can ask anything of at any time.

Here’s to all the friendships at every stage of life. Thank you, God, for the gift of friends.

Life is Too Short for Fake Cheese and Fake Friends

I’ve been an extrovert my entire life. I make small talk with the cashier at the grocery store. I’ll chat with my Uber driver on the way to the airport. I’ll start a conversation with the dad standing off to the side at a soccer game or the mom sitting alone at the PTA meeting. I just find it’s easier to get through this life if you’re pleasant. And because I’m a joiner, I have a diverse circle of mom friends from all walks of life. I think it’s important to open yourself up to different perspectives and life opportunities....

A Good Friend Doesn’t Make You Question Where You Stand With Her

We all want friends. (Even us introverts.) Friends are often a huge source of support, love and fun in our lives. God did something special when He made friends. Yet, I can’t help but notice how many people are worn down or even hurt by the friends in their life. Listen, every relationship will have its hard times. No friendship is perfect and there may be times when things get rocky. But there is a difference between disagreements and disrespect. There is a difference between a friend pointing out (in love) some concerns they have for you and friends who...

Find Your Forever Friends and Hold On Tight

Group of friends

There’s something pretty incredible about a friend who knew you before you were a wife or a mom. Who knew you when you were young and naive and full of big ideas and dreams. Who knows your heart better than you do because she remembers what you’ve forgotten about yourself over time. I found my group of forever friends in college. It began with sorority meetings and grew over time with fraternity parties, formals, tailgating at football games, and hanging out on our front porch in between classes. It grew as we supported each other when we made dumb mistakes...
