We toured the USS Midway Museum, an aircraft carrier docked at the pier; built sand castles and swam in the ocean at Lo Jolla beach, shopped at Seaport Village, toured Balboa Park, Old Town San Diego and the famous Hotel del Coronado. We loved Coronado Island and if we even go back would love to spend more time there. We also made a side trip to Legoland, California, which is about a 45-minute drive from San Diego. It was well worth the excitement for our Lego-enthusiast son to see the actual set from the Lego Movie! We skipped Sea World because we had visited there in San Antonio, but that’s a great place for families, too.
