Dear LeRoy,
If only I had truly grasped the legacy you would leave, I promise I would have spoken these words to you years ago. Thank you. From your grandsons’ wives, thank you.
When I fell in love with your grandson, I had not yet realized he got so much of his goodness from you—his wit, his joyfulness, his excitement to embrace the latest technologies, his research tendencies to find only the best within his budget, his curiosity. His patience with his imperfect wife, his wisdom beyond his youth, his movie star hair—all of it came from you.
You taught him there are no limits to what he can accomplish. That he can overcome impossible obstacles as long as he has determination, an eagerness to learn, and Jesus on his side. You taught him to always be positive and never to ask “Why me?”
Most importantly, you helped teach him how to be a godly man, a devoted husband, a loving father, and someday, the best grandfather imaginable.
I hope you know your grandchildren consider you a hero. You were one of the most important people in their lives and one who had a strong presence in molding them into the people they are today. They know everything you did was with them in mind.
For all of these things and more, I can’t thank you enough. Because of your faithfulness to God and the love you poured out, your legacy will continue to bless my future through our marriage and the lives of our children.
Your family celebrates your life. We rejoice with you. And more eagerly now than ever, we look forward to the time we will see you again.
Love,
Christina
