Put those old, brown bananas to good use and whip up a batch of these easy and delicious banana bars for your afternoon coffee break. Heaven!

Easy Banana Bars


  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (2-3 whole bananas)

Instructions –

  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla
  3. Combine flour and baking soda and gradually ad to the creamed mixture
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas
  5. Spread the batter into greased 15 x 10 x 1 pan (or a 9 x 13 or 8 x 8 pan)
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean
  7. Frost the bars after cooling completely

Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients (you can double for more frosting)

  • ½ package cream cheese
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions –

  1. Mix ingredients to form a creamy frosting
  2. Spread over banana bars
  3. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator
