I hope you don’t mind if I take a break from home improvement DIY posts this month to bring you another creative idea that’s close to my heart: monthly baby photos!
My two munchkins are 16 months apart. So, as soon as I was done taking monthly photos of my son’s first year – his sister was ready for her moment(s) in the spotlight. I wanted to document their first years in a memorable way that was different from all of the other (fantastic!) ideas out there. So, I kept people guessing and added something new each month… leading up to a fun finish that was part of their first birthday party theme. (Note: my daughter is only five months old – so we’re still in the midst of her journey!)
For my son, I added a piece of clothing each month.
He started off in a just a diaper, and by month six, he was looking more pulled together.
By month twelve, he was ready to party!
We completed his look with a mustache, then had a “’Stache Bash!” first birthday party.
My daughter also started off in just a diaper…
For her most recent photo, month five, you’ll see she’s gained…
A suitcase, shirt and a camera!
I’ve already started planning her first birthday party! (Yes, I’m Type A, why do you ask?) The theme will be a location – the location where she is packing for a trip throughout the year. You won’t know where until the last couple of months, but you’re free to guess?!
That’s one way I’m trying to make my kid’s first year’s memorable. How about you? What did you do to mark your kid’s first 12 months?
