It’s grilling season and I love to fire up the grill and make dinner outdoors. If I can put the entire meal on the grill I will. The other night I wanted to make hamburgers, but wanted to dress them up a little more than I normally do. This is what I came up with:
2 pounds of lean ground beef
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon mesquite burger seasoning, or something similar
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Swiss cheese, sliced
2 cups of fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon Lawry’s all seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Place the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, mesquite burger seasoning, and freshly ground pepper in a large bowl and mix well. Divide into 6-8 patties, depending on what size you want your burgers to be. Place on the grill.
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, sauté the mushrooms and onions together and cook until they are tender. Stir in the seasoning salt and garlic powder.
When the burgers are almost done, place some of the mushroom/onion mixture on top of each burger and top with swiss cheese. Grill a little longer until the cheese is melted.
Serve on a bun with any other toppings if you would like, but these are great as is! Enjoy!
