My precious babies,
You’re too young yet to understand, but this world you’re growing up in is broken and hurting.
There are people you’ll encounter as you grow who will reveal ugly hardness in their hearts that will open your eyes to the depravity of man.
There are circumstances you’ll chance into one day that will leave you feeling helpless and weak, uncertain of how it’s possible to put one foot in front of the other.
There are times of struggle ahead that will cause you to doubt there’s a God who cares at all about the heartbreak of His children, let alone yours.
There will be horrors you must stare down. Terror you’ll learn to coexist—uneasily—with. Violence and senselessness and angry souls whose language is evil and whose weapon is hate.
But you, my beautiful children—you will be different.
You will be kind.
You will look hatred in the eye and refuse to let it win.
You will put on the full armor of Love.
You will be joyful in hope.
Patient in affliction.
Faithful in prayer.
You will change the narrative where others have penned tragedy.
You embody Hope.
You radiate Peace.
You are a force of Love.
And though you’re too young yet to understand how, or when, or even why it matters at all—you will change this world.
