Now, I KNOW I am not the only person that feels this way.
How is a week from tomorrow already THANKSGIVING?!
See, I have physic powers. Okay, not really, BUT I too am having a hard time processing what time of year it is.
Yes, the holidays are upon us, whether we like it or not; and I think this a wonderful opportunity to implement the ole saying – “If you can’t beat them, join them!” So, here are my five ways to get your home into holiday mode:
1. Make a holiday playlist.
This is not only a household must-have but also an insanely fun time waiting to happen.
2. Use a holiday scent.
Smell is one of the best aspects of being human. It can change a mood, strike a memory . . . it also comes in so many easy-to-use forms: house sprays, candles, etc.
3. Buy a new holiday statement piece.
Your décor should never be stagnant, especially for the holidays. I encourage you to do this each year. My own personal purchase is picture above: my own little Disco Santa from CB2.com. Isn’t he cute?
4. Layout some holiday books.
I’ve always believed books make a house a home. They miraculously add automatic coziness to any space. I can’t explain it. Plus, who doesn’t love a good book?
5. Decorate for the holidays.
That’s right! Just go ahead and do it 😉 don’t fight the urge. You are the king or queen of your own castle, so make an executive decision as to when and where. I may or may not have already started myself . . .

Well, there you have it, folks: a few simple methods to get your holiday mojo flowing. I will be posting other holiday items all month long over on my blog, Lucky Little Mustardseed, featuring other festive stuff, yummy goodies, and multiple celebratory décor D.I.Y.’s. I hope you’ll join me, but either way, have yourself a jolly holiday!
