The weather was God awful all weekend and in this house, we eat our feelings.
We tried Vung Tau, a Vietnamese place on 27th and Y that was recommended by a colleague. First impression of the menu: looks delicious but there isn’t a speck of food without pork or beef. For most of you, this is probably a big plus. I asked our server if there were any vegetarian options. Clearly this wasn’t his first rodeo. He kindly offered to have the kitchen fry up some tofu, veggies, noodles and send it out with some amazing peanut sauce that I wanted to drink straight from the bowl. I was a happy camper.
Gunner ordered the pho. Our server asked what size he wanted. “Extra large,” Gunnar replied.
I kid you not, it came in a mixing bowl. Gunnar consumed an UNFATHOMABLE amount of pho. He was groaning and sweating. It was not pretty.
Over all our experience was excellent. The service was some of the best I’ve ever had in Lincoln and you must try the shrimp spring rolls. Veg options were limited but tasty. Gunnar raved about the pho. But please, if you care even a little bit about your internal organs or have the tiniest bit of self respect, DO NOT order the extra large.
NOTE: Any Broncos fans can blame my dear husband for jinxing Super Bowl XLVII. Someone was a little excited about his team’s big game and hastily purchased the hoodie pictured above only to be devastated by THEEE most humiliating game in football history. Bravo Gunnar.
