Exploring at Prairie Loft

Written by Rachel Gnagy

Living in town has been an adjustment for me. I loved growing up on a farm. The wide open spaces were perfect for going on walks or bike rides. Now that we live in Hastings, we have to work a bit harder to get those experiences. Prairie Loft was the perfect place for us to take Isaiah a few weeks ago. It was incredibly warm for January in Nebraska and we were so glad to be outdoors getting some fresh air.

Prairie Loft is just outside of Hastings and provides a beautiful space for educational or social activities. We’ve been out there several times for wedding receptions and engagement shoots. This particular time we joined the Family Outdoor Club for some indoor crafts/playtime/storytime and a walk out to the ‘tree playground’. While we walked, a few things caught my eye…

plants

I love that even though it is winter, you can find little glimpses of growth.

I’ve always been attracted to the details in nature… the veins in a leaf, the pattern in flowers, or the texture of moss on bark.

snow

Yes, it is still winter. But with so many sunny days and warm(ish) temperatures, it almost feels like spring! Isaiah loves being outdoors and we’re thankful for every day that is warm enough to spend some time in the fresh air!
