I’m not sure about you, but NFL football has never really interested me. I know my husband gets all excited about his Fantasy Football league (well, I guess I did this year a little because he won second place! Score!), but literally nothing about the NFL excites me. However, Super Bowl Sunday rolls around each year and I find myself planted in front of the TV watching the game. It’s not because I care about the teams or who wins and loses. It’s really for the commercials and most importantly…the FOOD! And it’s one of the few days each year that calories don’t count!
Sundays are a day that I typically have my family over for dinner, so this Sunday will be no different! Spicy Nacho Beef Pizza is a spunky twist on two football favorites…pizza and nachos.
Spicy Nacho Beef Pizza
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickled jalapeno pepper slices
3/4 cup prepared thick-and-chunky salsa
1 package (14 to 16 ounces) thick or thin prebaked pizza crust
3/4 cup prepared nacho cheese and salsa dip
1/3 cup pickled jalapeno pepper slices
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Brown ground beef in large nonstick skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes or until beef is not pink, breaking up into crumbles. Pour off drippings. Season with salt. Stir in finely chopped jalapeno and salsa.
Place pizza crust on pizza pan or large baking sheet. Spread dip evenly on crust, leaving 1-inch border around edge. Top evenly with beef mixture and jalapeño slices.
Bake in 450 degree F oven 12 to 15 minutes or until edge of crust is deep golden brown.
Cut into 8 wedges.
