3. The pencil brings peace. I’m a huge advocate for art. It’s relaxing, therapeutic, and fun. Don’t give me any “I’m not an artist” excuses. Everyone is an artist; we can’t help but create, whether we think of it as art or not. There are so many types of art, from painting to sculpting to sewing to writing. There’s something for everyone. Here are my favorites for stress relief.
- Hemp – braiding hemp keeps the hands busy and the mind occupied. I almost always start a bracelet or necklace when I’m watching a movie or sitting outside enjoying the sun. This is my number one art stress reliever.
- Watercolor – possibly my favorite medium when it comes to painting, there’s something soothing about the flowing, changing forms in watercolor. You can be abstract and play with the colors, letting them blend and fade, or get super detailed and do something more realistic.
- Poetry – all writing soothes me, but I think poetry is the best because it’s more about emotion and it doesn’t require as much structure. While writing a novel may be stressful, poetry is simple and free. Journaling is another great way to express yourself and purge your emotions.
