The Sweetest Mother's Day Gift!

January always feels a little strange, doesn’t it?

The lights come down.
The wrapping paper is long gone.
The calendar turns a page.
And suddenly…life snaps back to “normal.”

But sometimes that normal feels a little empty after the glow of Christmas.

The house is quieter.
The days feel longer.
And the magic that felt so easy a few weeks ago suddenly feels far away.

If I’m honest, this is the part of the season I struggle with the most.

Because once the decorations are tucked away, I’m left with myself again. The undone laundry, the routines to rebuild, the responsibilities that didn’t disappear just because the calendar said “holiday.”

And maybe you feel that too.

Maybe you’re stepping into January feeling tired instead of refreshed.
Maybe you’re carrying hopes for change, while also carrying the weight of everything that didn’t change last year.
Maybe you’re wondering how to find joy again when the magic is gone, and life feels ordinary.

Friend, here’s what I’m learning:

God is just as present in the ordinary as He was in the wonder.

He isn’t only in the candlelight services and Christmas carols.

He’s in the laundry room.
At the kitchen table.
In the quiet January mornings when you feel lost.

New beginnings rarely feel magical.
Sometimes they feel lonely, slow, or uncertain.

But God does His deepest work in the slow, when we’re not distracted by the sparkle.

You don’t have to rush into a new year.

Not with a perfect plan.
Not with a word-of-the-year.
Not with resolutions you’re scared you’ll break.

You are allowed to ease in.
To breathe.
To sit with God and say, “I’m tired, but I’m here.”

Because this season (this quieter, less glittery, real-life season) might be exactly where He wants to meet you.

So if January feels heavy instead of hopeful, you’re not failing.
You’re just human.

And God meets humans with grace—every single time.

5 Ways To Stay Positive When Things Are Hard

In: Faith, Featured, Journal

We all have hard days. You know, those days where your alarm didn’t go off, the car wouldn’t start, the baby had a dirty diaper right when you were walking out the door, your boss gave you a huge workload all needing done today, and you got a speeding ticket on the way home. When life is hard and complicated, how do you respond? Do you let yourself be angry, sad, blame others, or feel sorry for yourself? How do you get over those bad days? Growing Our Faith Together in the New Year

Happy New Year! It is 2015, WOW! I say it every year, time just seems to be passing more quickly as I get older. I sit and look at our little happy family and I am frantically looking for a pause button! Our oldest is about to graduate from college, our next oldest will be heading to college (in another state….over 4 hours from home….deep breath!!!), The next oldest will be a senior and soon she will graduate and leave the nest as well. I feel as though I am going to blink and they will all be gone, on...
